When to visit
Laos is not characterized as an expensive destination, however airfare can be a major problem no matter where in the world you are coming from. Staying, eating and sightseeing in Laos is super cheap and accessible. Overnight stays start from USD 5 to USD 20 and include breakfast.
Eating in Laos for about 3 or 4 days can cost a total of 30 to 40 USD, which is wonderful. And finally, many of the attractions are either free or you have to pay 1 USD.
High season:
from November to March, where you will enjoy days with pleasant temperatures in most of the country; in the mountains it is usually a little cold, but it is still the best season.
Mid season:
from July to August, where the green landscapes attract many tourists, especially backpackers. It rains in much of Laos and there is a lot of humidity, but it is still an excellent time to visit.
Low season:
April to June and September to October, where temperatures and monsoons (approx. 40ºC.) during April and May make no one want to be in the area. During September and October it can rain a lot, almost pouring.

Luang Prabang
Historical capital of Laos, Luang Prabang is the most exciting place I have ever visited. The heart of the city is in an appendix, which in its form, and saving the distances, reminds Manhattan, between the Mekong River and its tributary the Nam Khan, surrounded in turn by a dense and beautiful plant ledge spaced enough to let you enjoy beautiful sunsets.
Pha That Luang
The most important temple of Laos, and national emblem, it is a Buddhist steppe of the 16th century, covered with gold, and located on an ancient Hindu temple of the 3rd century. Centuries of pillage and destruction have not succeeded in making it emerge again and again proud and radiant.
Buddha Park
A curious place if ever there was one, it is a religious place erected by Bunleua Sulilat, a shaman priest who tried to unite the Buddhist religion with Hinduism. The result is the original artistic style of the more than 200 statues gathered here.
Vang Vieng
City next to the Nam Song River and beautiful mountains, has the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. The mist also gives a mystical feeling to these incredible sunsets. In addition to this, from the city depart multiple excursions for kayaking (highly recommended), tubing (whose business are alternating the different families of the town), trekking, cycling, climbing, visiting caves, horseback riding, or lagoons.
